UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's indoor track and field team jumped up 42 spots and into top 10 of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, which was released today (Feb. 5). The SVSU women's track and field squad is currently ranked 10th in the nation.

Freshman Taylor Stepanski (Alpena, Mich.) currently holds the second best 800 meter time (2:11.62) in the nation, while the SVSU Distance Medley Relay team consisting of Ola Hendler (Lansing, Mich. / Grand Ledge HS), Emily Short (Tawas, Mich. / Tawas Area HS), Taylor Stepanski and Lauren Hill (Flat Rock, Mich.) is also in the second position with a mark of 11:59.91.
Cross Country All-Americans Lauren Hill and Emily Short have also found their way into the top 10 in the 5,000 meter distance. Hill is currently sixth at 17:01.62, while Short is 10th with a time of 17:08.60.
Sophomore Emerald Joiner (Saginaw, Mich. / Arthur Hill HS) has led the way for SVSU in the field events all season and sits ninth nationally in the shot put competition with a mark of 14.24 meters.
