ROMEO, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University women's golf started their 2026-27 season with the Warrior Invitation hosted by Wayne State on Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22. The Cardinals took seventh out of 14 teams with a three-round total of 960 (+96).

Christina Nagy (Macedonia, Ohio, Nordonia HS) led the team and tied for 11th out of 83 golfers after shooting 77 (+5), 79 (+7), and 78 (+6) for a total of 234 (+18). Nagy carded five birdies including three on the final round and totaled 29 pars.

Marissa GeRue (Fort Wayne, Ind., Carroll HS) followed two strokes behind and tied for 17th with a total of 236 (+20). She carded back-to-back 78's (+6) with an 80 (+8) to finish on Tuesday.

Anna McCubbins had the best round for SVSU in her collegiate debut with a 76 (+4) on Tuesday. She started by shooting 82 (+10) and 79 (+7) for a three-round total of 237 (+21). McCubbins carded three birdies on her final round for five in total.

Alivia Ligrow (Pinckney, Mich., Pinckney Community HS) and Mayson Southland (Mona Shores, Mich., Mona Shores HS) rounded out the team with three-round totals of 256 (+40) and 262 (+46). Ligrow had rounds of 83 (+11), 85 (+13), and 88 (+16) while Southland shot 89 (+17), 88 (+16), and 85 (+13).

Madison Webb competed individually, tying Ligrow with a 256 (+40) tournament total along with rounds of 83 (+11), 85 (+13), and 88 (+16).

The team finished sixth in total birdies with 20 and pars with 118. SVSU also carded the sixth lowest number of double bogeys out of the 14 teams.

Up Next: SVSU women's golf is back in action this weekend with the 2026 Gildas Club Laker Invite hosted by Grand Valley State. The three-day tournament starts Saturday, September 26 and ends Monday, September 28 and takes place at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Michigan.
