UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team recently paid a visit to local Chester Miller Elementary School to put on a free soccer clinic and talk with the students about the importance of education.

The Cardinals hosted three separate sessions, with each having roughly 45-50 kids.  Throughout each session, the kids participated in a soccer skill station, a scrimmage station and a station that focused on hand-eye coordination, with the instructors stressing education in the games and talks.

SVSU Head Coach Cale Wassermann talked about his team's visit to the school...

"It was a really great opportunity for our guys to get out into the community and engage with local kids from the city of Saginaw.  Our players did a phenomenal job interacting with the children and, as you can see from the video, the kids had a great time!  We ended each session with 'Teacher Races' where the students rooted for their teachers as they raced against another class.  It felt like a GLIAC Championship game, as it was intense!"
