Four Cardinals Garner All-GLIAC Baseball Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. - Four Saginaw Valley State University baseball players were named to the 2011 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) baseball team.  

Sophomore starting pitcher Carson Beauchaine (Fraser, Mich.) was named to the All-GLIAC First Team and sophomore outfielder Kyle O'Boyle (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek HS) garnered Second Team All-GLIAC honors.  Junior shortstop Matt Hunt (Howell, Mich.) and junior outfielder Ryan Ermers (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II HS) were named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention Team.

Beauchaine posted a 6-3 record in nine starts this season.  He struck-out 45 batters in 55.2 innings pitched and had an ERA of just 1.46.

O'Boyle played in all 46 games for the Cardinals, hitting .329 while belting five home runs, 15 doubles, three triples and 40 RBI's.  He scored 20 runs and walked 15 times. 

Hunt played 44 games for SVSU this season, posting a .333 batting average.  He had six doubles, two home runs, 27 RBI's, 31 runs scored and walked 26 times.

Ermers hit .355 for the regular season, including nine doubles, 14 RBI's, 18 runs scored and 12 walks while appearing in 41 games.
