UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team continued its strong GLIAC play with a 6–0 victory over Michigan Tech on Saturday afternoon at Robert C. Braddock Field.

The Cardinals (8–3–2, 6–2–1 GLIAC) scored three goals in each half, outshooting the Huskies 18–7 and holding a 10–4 edge in shots on goal. SVSU has scored 35 goals, totaled 30 assists, for 100 points on the year over 13 games. That mark would put tie them for 13th in all of NCAA Division II.

Brie Clasen (Naperville, Ill. / Neuqua Valley HS) opened the scoring in the 25th minute off an assist from Emily Kolodin (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Grand Blanc HS). Less than a minute later, Clasen returned the favor, setting up Madi Bajis (Macomb, Mich. / Utica HS) to make it 2–0. Sophia Miller (Chesterfield, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse HS North) extended the lead in the 38th minute, finishing a feed from Ruby Grundner (Belle River, Ontario / Tecumseh Vista Academy) for her first career goal.

The Cardinals stayed on the front foot in the second half. Bajis tallied her second of the day in the 48th minute on a pass from Kaley Douglass (Williamston, Mich. / Williamston HS), followed by Lauryn Fracassi (Grandville, Mich. / Grandville HS) converting in the 56th minute from Ryleigh Gray (Belle River, Ontario / E.J. Lajeunesse) and Rileigh Garbarz (Pinckney, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard HS). Grundner capped the scoring in the 64th minute with her first collegiate goal, assisted by Sophia Zalucki (Washington Twp., Mich. / Romeo HS) after Zalucki won two challenges and chased the ball down, sliding to make the crossing pass. Grundner's strike from the right edge of the box bent into the top left corner.

Lainey Garbarz (Pinckney, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard HS) started in goal and played the first half before Delaney Martin (Noblesville, Ind. / Noblesville HS) made her collegiate debut. Both keepers made two saves in their 45 minutes of play.

Up Next: Saginaw Valley heads to Roosevelt on Friday, October 24. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM. The Cardinals have Sunday off before coming home the following week.
