COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Cardinal Women's Basketball team was on the road after a big home win over Tiffin. SVSU took on the Cedarville Yellow Jackets and went into the locker room at halftime down by 14 points. The Cardinals erased this double-digit deficit in the third and fourth quarters outscoring the Yellow Jackets, 31-19. Saginaw Valley wasn't able to pull out the victory and dropped a tight 59-57 game to Cedarville.
Aaliah Hill led the scoring for SVSU making 4/5 from the floor for nine points, but the Cardinals were outscored, 26-21, in the first quarter.
The 2nd quarter was a low-scoring affair for the Cardinals as the Yellow Jackets held SVSU to just five points, putting the count at 40-26 in favor of Cedarville.
In the 3rd quarter, the Cardinals outscored the Yellow Jackets, 15-12, putting the game at 52-41 in Cedarville's favor as the teams headed to the final quarter of action.
The Cardinals had their best defensive quarter of the game holding the Yellow Jackets to just seven points, adding 16 points of their own. Kaitlyn Geers added six of her 15 points in the Cardinals final push to comeback against Cedarville. Maddie Barrie hit a 3-pointer to bring the Cardinals within one of the Yellow Jackets with a score of 57-56.
The Yellow Jackets added a pair of free-throws to go up 59-57 and escaped with the narrow two-point victory.
Inside the Boxscore
- Geers led the team in scoring with 15 points and had a career high 13 rebounds, earning her Meijer Player of the Game honors.
- Aaliah Hill had 13 points for the Cardinals and added four borads and a block.
- Barrie was also in double digit scoring with 11 and had si boards and two steals.
- SVSU out-rebounded Cedarville, 44-31.
- The Cardinals edged out the Yellow Jackets in shooting percentage with 40.7% compared to 37.3%.

"We've shown that we can be a hard team to stop, but we keep showing it too late. We have to start coming out of the gate as hard as we finish games. They have it, we just have to bring it for 40 minutes."
SVSU is on the road again Wednesday (Nov. 27) in another non-conference match-up against Ohio Dominican with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
