The 2026 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Two Saginaw Valley State University players were named on the prestigious list. Senior pitcher Macy Irelan (Owosso, Mich. / Owosso HS) and junior outfielder Ella Reifschneider (Hudsonville, Mich. / Hudsonville HS) met the eligibility requirements to be among those listed.
To make the Academic All-District® list, a student-athlete had to maintain a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Irelan led the Cardinal pitching staff in strikeouts with 151. She has made 28 appearances and 22 starts with an ERA of 2.00. The 2025 GLIAC Pitcher of the Year led the team with 6.88 strikeouts per seven innings and pitched 153.2 innings during her second season with the team.
Reifschneider led the Cardinals in runs scored with 36 and walks with 25. She has started in 53 of her 54 appearances this season and has 43 hits, three doubles, a triple, 20 RBI, and 13 stolen bases. The three-time All-GLIAC selection has an average of .328, which ranks third among players with 40 or more appearances.
Irelan was selected as an Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 16.
