Three Cardinals Named NFCA All-Midwest Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three Cardinal Softball players were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First-Team All-Midwest Region on Friday. Junior Aalana Kimble (Kentwood, Mich. / East Kentwood HS) along with seniors Olivia Elliott (Baroda, Mich. / Berrien Springs HS) and Macy Irelan (Owosso, Mich. / Owosso HS) were voted on the first team.

Kimble leads SVSU in almost every offensive category this season: at-bats, hits, doubles, and batting average. She currently ranks first in the NCAA in Toughest to Strike Out. The 2026 GLIAC Pitcher of the Year was dominant inside the circle this season. She leads all Cardinal pitchers in appearances, wins, complete games, innings pitched, and ERA. She recorded two no-hitters this season to join teammate Macy Irelan as the only SVSU pitchers to achieve more than one in a single season.

Elliott leads the Cardinals in slugging percentage, home runs, and RBI. She is fourth on the team in batting average and second in hits. The reigning GLIAC Player of the Year has recorded two or more hits in a single game 10 times this season, with a season-high four hits in the second game at Roosevelt on April 12. She hit two home runs in a 12-2 win over Davenport on March 22, going a perfect 2-for-2.

Irelan leads the Cardinal pitching staff in strikeouts with 145. She has made 26 appearances and 21 starts with an ERA of 1.90. The 2025 GLIAC Pitcher of the Year leads the team with 6.87 strikeouts per seven innings and has pitched 147.2 innings so far this season.

The Cardinals are currently competing in the NCAA DII Midwest Regional at UIndy.
