Aalana Kimble Earns GLIAC Pitcher of the Week Honors for Second Time this Season

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University junior Aalana Kimble was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week when the league office announced the weekly award winners.

Kimble was dominant in the circle for the Cardinals this week. She pitched 24.0 total innings and surrendered 13 hits in four appearances, with four earned runs through that stretch. She sat down 19 batters on strikes to improve to 11-5 in the season. Kimble recorded two wins over Roosevelt on Sunday. Kimble pitched a no-hitter in game one against the Lakers on Sunday, going 7.0 innings with two walks and eight strikeouts. It is her second no-hitter of the season, and she joins teammate Macy Irelan as the only Cardinal pitchers to throw two no-hitters in a single season.

This is the second GLIAC Pitcher of the Week award this season for the junior from Kentwood, Michigan. Kimble and the SVSU softball team are set to host Davenport and Ferris State this weekend with a doubleheader against the Panthers slated for Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. (ET). The Bulldogs will visit on Sunday for a noon start.
