2013-14: Indoor: set a season-best 3000m race time of 9:05.81 at the SVSU-GVSU Dual to take 6th place...placed 12th at the GVSU Tune Up with a season-best Mile time of 4:22.63...competed in the Distance Medley Relay at the GLIAC Indoor Championships and helped his team to a 7th place finish with a time of 10:26.45. Outdoor: recorded a personal-best 1500m race time of 4:07.82 at the GVSU vs. SVSU meet where he took 10th...made a career-best of 15:20.49 in the 5000m at the Northwood Open, where he was able to take 3rd overall...competed in the 5000m and 10,000m at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships, where he took 15th (15:32.00) and 12th (32:07.36), respectively.

Prior to SVSU/Personal: Prepped at Unionville-Sebewaing Area High School under coach Ed LaBair...earned varisty letters in cross counry, soccer, track and field and baseball...in cross country was All-State his sophomore and junior seasons and first team all-conference his junior year...in soccer was All-State his sophomore and junior seasons and first team all-conference all four years...in track and field was All-State and first team all-conference in the 1,600m run during his senior campaign and first team all-conference in the 3,200m relay his junior and senior campaigns...was an all-conference scholar athlete and member of the academic all-state cross country team and honor roll...majoring in mechanical engineering...son of Denny and Karen Southgate...born 11/9/93.
