UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team completed the revenge weekend with a 3–0 win over Northern Michigan on Saturday afternoon at Robert C. Braddock Field. SVSU lost their first two matches of the season last weekend to the Wildcats and Parkside but defeated both of them this weekend.

The Cardinals (7-2-3, 6-2-0 GLIAC) opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Evan Baker (Frankenmuth, Mich. / Frankenmuth HS) tallied his fourth goal of the season, finishing a pass from Liam Zimmerman (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston HS) to give SVSU a 1–0 halftime lead.

SVSU doubled its advantage late in the match as Narcis Gavalda (Rossell, Spain / IES La Senia) scored his first career goal in the 85th minute off a setup from Matty Telfer (Newcastle, England / Sunderland College). Three minutes later, the duo connected again as Gavalda found Telfer, who played across to Gabe Olla (Windsor, Ontario / Sandwich Secondary) for his first career goal to seal the 3–0 win.

The Cardinals controlled possession and outshot the Wildcats 24–4, including a 12–0 advantage in shots on goal. SVSU also held a 5–2 edge in corner kicks. Nick Kay (Walled Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Central HS) earned the clean sheet without needing a save, marking the team's sixth shutout of the season and second in a row.

Up Next: Saginaw Valley travels to Roosevelt on Friday, October 24. Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM from Morris Field in Arlington Heights, Ill. Afterwards, the Cardinals travel to Purdue Northwest on Sunday for the final road match of the regular season.
