Cardinals round our regular season with Concordia Legacy Invite

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University Track and field team traveled to the Concordia Legacy Invite to improve on their times throughout the year. Two team members hit NCAA Division II provisional marks in the shotput. 

For the men, David Ferguson, Daniel Barger, Seth Oxer, and Jaron Wyma placed 4, 5, 6, 10 respectively in the 400m dash with times of 51.67, 51.90, 52.53, and 54.65. Wyma raced in the third of three sections of the race and finished tenth overall. Freshman distance runner, Xander Civinskas won the 5000m run with a time of 15:39.50 and in the 110 hurdles Nathan Furst took second place with a time of 14.56 seconds. Wilson Tschirhart added a victory in the pole vault for the Cardinals vaulting to a height of 14' 5.25 inches. In the shot put, two athletes hit NCAA Provisional marks in Andrew Quinn and Clarence Corbett with throws of 16.95m (55' 7.5") and 16.58m (54' 4.75") respectively. The men's 4x400m relayteam consisting of Seth Oxer, Quin Broussard, Tyler Burell, and Kabanu Witherspoon rounded out the meet with a first place crown sprinting to a time of 3:18.72.

For the women, Karissa Picard took second overall in the 400m rin with a time of 1:01.86. In the 5000m dash, Amelia Kershke showed off her freshman talent with a third place finish and a time of 20:40.79. The 4x100 relay team consisting of Autumn Morris, Angelina Delbosque, Cassandra Cambell, and Cheyenne Williamson hit an NCAA Provisional mark with a time of 46.42 seconds. The women's 4x400 team also won their event with a team consisting of Williamson, Campbell Delbosque and Kelsey Landra. In addition, MacKenzie Ramey took second in the shot put with a throw of 13.25m (43' 5.75") and freshman Hannah Murphy finished sixth overall with a toss of 11.02m (36' 2"). 

UP NEXT

The track and field teams head to the conference finals where they will compete for a final chance to make the national meet if they haven't already hit qualifying marks.
