UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team had seven student-athletes earn All-Midwest Region honors last week from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season.

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top three ranked relay team.

Leading the Cardinals was Cheyenne Williamson, who won her second straight national title in the heptathlon last month. She earned All-Region honors in the heptathlon, long jump, high jump, 100-meter hurdles, and 200-meter dash.

Also from the women's team, Alona Olshevska was named All-Region in the 200 and 400-meter dashes, while the 4x100-meter relay team of Olshevska, Williamson, Sophia Thelen, and Angelina Delbosque earned All-Midwest Region.

On the men's side, CarLee Stimpfel led the way by being named All-Region in both the 5000-meter and 10,000-meter runs. Freshman Corey Bowers was named All-Region in the 1500-meter run, and senior Dan Westarb took home All-Region honors in the decathlon.
