DETROIT -- The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team fell to Wayne State University 70-62 in overtime on Thursday night in Detroit. The loss drops SVSU to 12-5 overall and 7-3 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
How it happened:
- The first quarter was high scoring, as SVSU held a 21-16 lead. Kaitlyn Zarycki posted nine points in the first to lead all players.
- SVSU opened the second quarter with a made layup by Victoria Stafford, and a Zarycki jumper to take a nine-point lead.
- The Warriors answered with a 9-0 run and tied the game at 25-25 with 6:28 remaining in the first half.
- A Maddie Maloney 3-pointer opened up a seven-point lead for the Cardinals, as they were able to contain the Warriors for the remainder of the half and take a 40-31 lead into the locker room.
- In the third quarter, SVSU led by as many as 11 points, before Wayne State hit a layup at the end of the third quarter to cut the Cardinal lead to 55-48.
- With 4:43 remaining in regulation, Wayne State tied the game at 55-55 and took the lead after a pair of free throws with 3:52 left.
- Tori DePerry hit a jump shot to tie the game at 57-57 before the Warriors took the lead back with 1:39 remaining.
- With 58 seconds left, Zarycki stole the ball and Maddie Barrie hit a layup to tie the game at 59-59 and send it into overtime.
- In overtime, the Warriors outscored the Cardinals 11-3 and earned the victory.

- Tori DePerry posted eight points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.
