UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams hosted the SVSU Tune-Up on Friday evening from the SVSU Fieldhouse. 

The Cardinals went 1-2 in the men's mile run with Corey Bowers taking first in 4:10.54 (NCAA P).

For his efforts, the freshman from Cedar Springs, Mich., has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week. Bowers is currently ranked fifth in the conference in the mile run heading into the GLIAC Indoor Championship meet. 

SVSU will begin the GLIAC Indoor Championships at 10 am Saturday from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich.
