UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the team's outstanding performance in the classroom during the 2020-21 academic year.

The Cardinals were once again awarded the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. Initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, The USMC/AVCA Academic Team Award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.

Since the institution of the award, SVSU has been honored eight times, including each of the last three years. In total, 1,275 teams across all levels of play were honored by the AVCA with the award for 2020-21.
