BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams concluded the 2021 indoor season with day three of the NCAA D2 National Championships Saturday at the Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
For the third straight day of the event, SVSU sophomore Cheyenne Williamson won an individual National Championship as the Cardinal standout took home the title in the 60-meter hurdles. She crossed the line 8.41 seconds.
The sensational meet for Williamson lifted the SVSU women to a fifth-place finish as a team, with the Cardinals scoring 35 points, just five points behind the national runner-up spot.
On the men's side, CarLee Stimpfel took 10th place for the Cardinals in the 3,000-meter run, finishing in 8:08.35.
Alona Olshevska finished eighth for the SVSU women in the 400-meter final. She finished in a time of 57.05 seconds.
The Cardinals closed out the event with the women's 4x400 relay team of Williamson, Kelsey Landra, Olshevska, and Jenna Picard taking ninth place, finishing just outside of scoring position with a time of 3:54.19.
SVSU will turn its focus to the 2021 outdoor season. The Cardinal schedule of events will be announced when available.
