UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The Saginaw Valley State University Track & Field and Cross Country programs are set to release their All-Decade Team when the new year hits. We will be releasing the top performances for each year every day until January 1 when the All-Decade Team is announced.
Second on our list for 2011 and the top performance of that season for the Cardinals was the Women's Cross Country Team.
Top Performance of 2011 - Women's Cross Country Team
The Women's Cross Country team qualified for the NCAA National Championships for the first time in school history during the 2011 campaign. The team was led by Megan Pittoors (team captain), Alycia Wright, Lauren Hill, Jean Hollerbach, Chelsea Savage, Ashley Meyer, and Emily Short. The team finished 13th overall in the event. In the classroom, the squad earned All-Academic Team honors from the USTFCCCA and had six student-athletes earn individual national all-academic accolades as well.
