UNVIVERSITY CENTER — The Saginaw Valley State Women's Basketball team has posted its 2019 recruiting class, as four prep standouts (2 from MI, 2 from WI) have officially signed to continue their academic and athletic careers at SVSU. 

This year's recruiting class features Tori DePerry (Shawano, Wisc. / Shawano Community High School), Jess Massey (Eau Claire, Wisc. / Eau Claire Memorial High School) and Kaitlyn Zarycki (Niles, Mich. / Edwardsburg High School).  

"We couldn't be more elated about our incoming freshmen class. As we evaluate the strengths of this incoming class one thing really sticks out and that is the blue-collar mentality. These players have done a tremendous job of creating positive habits through relentless work ethic that will translate very well to the college game and our system. Each of them brings a different dynamic to our roster as we continue to add versatility and size to our program. Tori DePerry - Forward - Shawano Community H.S., Shawano, Wisc.  

DePerry prepped at Shawano Community High School where she participated in basketball, track and volleyball. She has earned many accolades a cross the boards in multiple sports including honorable mention and all-conference accolades in track, as well as qualifying for states in the high jump competition. She was MVP for track and basketball during her junior year campaign, as well as MVP in basketball for her sophomore year. DePerry earned All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Area accolades in basketball during her sophomore and junior seasons. Rounding out the honors, she earned All-Conference Honorable Mention in Volleyball and the Spark Plug Award Winner during the 2018 season. 

"Tori is the perfect combination of strength and speed. Her ability to play in the post then step outside and shoot is the versatility we will need from her position. When we first saw Tori we knew immediately she was going to be a great fit for our program as she was relentless with effort on both ends of the floor. She will primarily play the forward position for us but if needed could help add depth to the perimeter as well." - Coach Trevithick 

Jess Massey - Guard - Eau Claire Memorial H.S., Eau Claire, Wisc.

Massey prepped at Eau Claire Memorial High School in Wisconsin where she participated solely in basketball. During her junior year campaign, she was named to the All-Conference Honorable-Mention squad.  

"Jess brings so many dimensions to her game that it will not only show up in the stat sheet but also in wins. She can guard multiple positions and with the size and length she can create and be the ultimate playmaker for us. Jess brings a toughness as well that is hard to find in young players and will provide much needed depth at the guard position." - Coach Trevithick 

Kaitlyn Zarycki - Guard - Edwardsburg H.S., Niles, Mich.

Zarycki trained at Edwardsburg High School in Michigan where she participated in track, softball, volleyball and basketball. She is a four-time All-Conference team member and has been named all-state for three of the years of competition in basketball. She was also named MVP all four years in basketball. 

"Kaitlyn can flat out score the basketball. When we evaluated Kaitlyn the consistency in which she created for her teammates and herself was impressive. The ability to manifest scoring opportunities off the bounce or in transition will allow her to make an impact right away. Kaitlyn will play a combo guard position for us as she can handle multiple roles within our system." - Coach Trevithick 

Tyler Scheid - Forward - Coldwater H.S., Coldwater, Mich. 

Scheid prepped at Coldwater High School in Coldwater, Mich. where she participated in volleyball and basketball. 

"Tyler is an athletic, long player that can help add depth to our roster and will provide toughness from the minute she steps foot on campus. Tyler comes from a great high school program that has shown a tradition of winning and she has been a cornerstone of that program for four years. Tyler will be a great asset to our front court as she'll bring versatility and speed to the forward position." - Coach Trevithick
