UNIVERSITY CENTER — The Lady Cards took on #1 Ashland University Thursday (Jan. 18) night in O'Neill Arena. Saginaw Valley State was agressive in the first quarter, but when on to fall to the Eagles, 112-69, Thursday (Jan. 18) evening, in O'Neill Jr. Arena.
The Cardinals were off to an impressive first quarter, with Anna Hall throwing up the first bucket of the night to take the lead 2-0. Back and fourth for the next five minutes puts SVSU up 8-6 with 5:08 to go in the first quarter. This would be the last Saginaw Valley State lead for the quarter as they trail 22-16 at the conclusion of the first.
The #1 Ashland team came out strong in the second, outscoring the Cardinals, 38-20. Saginaw Valley headed into the halftime break trailing 60-36 to the Eagles.
At the halfway point, Hall led the Cardinals with eight points and three assists. She added on two boards, as well.
Abby Duffy and Francesca Coury stepped up for Saginaw Valley State in the third quarter, with Duffy ended the 10 minutes of action with a double-double 12 points and 12 boards. Coury went onto surpass her previous season-high of 11 points, earning her 12th point in the third quarter.
The Cardinals trailed 85-52 heading into the final 10 minutes of action against the #1 Ashland team.
Saginaw Valley worked hard in the fourth, with a triple from Coury ending the night with her career-high of 15 points.

- Coury posted her career-high with 15 points, earning herself "meijer" player of the game honors. She added two boards, as well.
- Duffy notched a double-double with 12 rebounds and 14 points.

- Hall led in assists with four and added eight points.
