2017 GLIAC Men's Soccer Tournament Central

MIDLAND -- The Saginaw Valley State University Men's Soccer team earned a first-round by in the 2017 GLIAC Tournament and will face Northern Michigan University on Friday (Nov. 3) at 10:00 a.m. The Cardinals and Wildcats will square-off in what is the first of two Friday semifinal matches at Northwood University's Dean Field, with Northwood and Davenport playing at 1:00 p.m.

Northern Michigan enters the game after defeating the Tiffin University Dragons in Tuesday's quarterfinal round by a 2-1 score. The Cardinals defeated the Wildcats twice this season, posting a 3-0 victory on Sep. 15 in Marquette before claiming a 3-1 home victory over NMU on Oct. 8. 

SVSU finished the 2017 regular season with a 12-3-1 overall record and 9-2-1 mark in the GLIAC. The Wildcats enter the match with an overall record of 6-10-2 and had a 2-9-1 tally in league play. NMU was the No. 6 seed in the tournament while the Cardinals at the No. 2 seed.

The Cardinals' three losses are the fewest in a regular season for the program and the 11 total goals allowed are an all-time low for a regular season as well. The team led the GLIAC in scoring defense and offense, racking-up 33 goals and 2.06 per match.
