BAY CITY - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team has been chosen to finish in fourth place in the annual Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) preseason coaches' poll. The Cardinals collected 33 points to finish in the fourth slot.
Just ahead of SVSU in the no. 3 spot was Grand Valley State, which received a pair of first place votes and 40 points. Hillsdale also received two first place nods and had 41 points. Ferris State was picked as the divisional favorite, garnering four first place votes and 44 total points. Northern Michigan (24), Michigan Tech (21), Northwood (14) and Lake Superior State (7) sit in the no. 5 through no. 8 spots, respectively.
Findlay was picked to win the South Division, earning 35 points and five first place votes. Ashland received two first place nods and 32 points to finish in second. Wayne State (25), Ohio Dominican (20), Tiffin (18), Lake Erie (9) and Walsh (8) rounded-out the rankings for the south.
