UNIVERSITY CENTER - Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball head coach Randy Baruth has announced the addition of Sebastiano Lamonato to the program. The 6'8"center from Melbourne, Australia will join the Cardinals for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

Lamonato prepped at Marcellin College, a catholic secondary boys' school in Bulleen, Victoria, Australia. He was selected to the Victorian State Team five times from 2012-2016 and claimed a gold medal all five years. Marcellin claimed five straight Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) titles as well. Sebastiano was selected to the AGSV All-Star Game in his junior and senior seasons. Lamonato averaged 15.6 ppg and 8.0 rpg while playing for the Blackburn Vikings as well, a leading club team in Australia. 

"We are excited to add Seb to our program," said Baruth. "What we are looking to the most is how hard he plays and his relentless pursuit of excellence. He played in a program with a culture of urgency and team play. Both of those characteristics will help us to keep improving our program."

Lamonato's Blackburn Vikings coach, Paul Lankford, commented on his joining the SVSU men's program...

"This is an awesome achievement for Seb! This has been a dream of his for a long time and, with his experience playing against seniors, I expect him to fit in and contribute right away. I can't wait to see him in a Cardinal uniform!"

Sebastiano will be joining Austin LeVan, Rashaan Pope and Richie Roberts for the 2016-17 recruiting class, as both of those players joined the Cardinals earlier this past year.
