UNIVERSITY CENTER - Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball head coach Randy Baruth has announced the addition of Austin LeVan to the program. The 6'3"guard from Millington, Michigan will join the Cardinals for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

LeVan, who prepped at local Millington High School, played one season at Rockhurst University before transferring to Saginaw Valley State. While at Rockhurst, LeVan started 10 games and played in 27, leading the Hawks with 60 three-pointers. He was second on the squad with 12.5 ppg and was an outstanding 90.5% from the free throw line while playing in 24.9 minutes per game. The High School all-state honoree is also Millington's all-time leader in points and assists.

"Austin brings good college basketball experience that goes along with a high basketball IQ from his hours in the gym at Millington High School," stated Baruth. "Austin's team attitude and work ethic will help us continue to grow our program!"

Austin's high school coach and father, Shane, also spoke to his ability to contribute for the Cardinals...

"As a four year starter, Austin helped lead Millington to the most wins in school history, including back-to-back district championships and our first-ever regional championship. His hard work and pure love for the game is contagious and we shared some very exciting years during his high school career. I am looking forward to watching him work with the SVSU team towards continued success!" 

Austin will be joining Rashaan Pope and Richie Roberts for the 2016-17 recruiting class, as both of those players joined the Cardinals earlier this past year.
