UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University junior forward Emily Wendling was named Second Team All American by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association. Wendling was also selected as the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association Midwest Region Player of the Year, which was annouced last Monday, March 14.

Wendling, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, averaged 18.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game to lead the Cardinals to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time since the 1992-93 campaign. She earned First Team All-GLIAC plaudits for the second time this season as well as being named a CoSIDA Second Team All-America selection. Wendling was named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week five times and earned national recognition as well throughout the season, being named the USBWA Player of the Week in early January and the Women's Division II Bulletin February Player of the Month.

Wendling will be in the poll for national player of the year honors.

The Lady Cardinals finished their 2015-16 season as the GLIAC North Division Champions for the first time in program history and their victory over Bellarmine in the opening round of the NCAA Division II regional tournament was just the second in the program's history at the Division II level.
