BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University freshman men's track & field student-athlete Robert Atwater was selected as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week after his performance at the GVSU Big Meet on Saturday.
Atwater posted an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark while winning the high jump, clearing the bar at a height of 2.15 meters (7'0.5"). That mark matched an indoor school record at SVSU and currently ranks second-best in the nation and leads the GLIAC.
Robert added a fourth-place showing in the long jump, posting a distance of 7.00 meters (22'11.75") and 10th in the pole vault with a height of 4.42 meters (14'6").
The track & field team will continue competition February 27-28 at the 2016 GLIAC Indoor Championships, hosted at the Heminger Center by Tiffin University.
