UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - SVSU women's basketball student-athlete Emily Wendling has been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Four First Team for the 2015-16 season. She was named to the team along with four other players from the GLIAC, GLVC and GMAC.
The junior occupational therapy major from Flushing, Michigan has maintained a 3.88 cumulative GPA off the court during her career and has continued her dominance on the court for SVSU as well. She crossed the 1,000-point mark for her career earlier this season and currently leads the GLIAC in scoring with 18.9 ppg and field goal percentage, hitting on 56.8% of her shot attempts. Wendling is fourth in the league in rebounding (9.8 rpg) and ranks eighth nationally with 168 made field goals. Emily has posted 12 double-doubles this season as well.
Saginaw Valley is currently 16-6 overall and 13-4 in the GLIAC, sitting in a tie atop the GLIAC North Division Standings. This has been the best start to a season since the 1998-99 campaign.
Wendling, having earned first team honors, will be placed onto the Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America teams will be released in early March.
