SVSU Track & Field Wraps Up Jet's Pizza Invitational

UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's track & field team finished up the Jet's Pizza Invitational today in the Fieldhouse on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University.

Emily Short took first place for the Cardinals in the women's 5,000 meter run posting a time of 17:40.18. Allison Dorr followed in fourth place, recording a time of 18:20.23.

In the men's 5,000 meter run Tristan Fackelman and Clyde Anderson took fourth and fifth, respecticely. Fackelman posted a time of 15:16.73 and Anderson came in at 15:20.58.

Saginaw Valley's women's distance medley relay team of Darby Meinecke, Kristina Ayotte, Alicia Tomlin and Dominique Adams took second with a time of 12:45.30.

Bria Williams notched in a fourth place win in the 60 meter hurdles, posting a time of 9.06. 

In the 400 meter dash, Ce'Aira Richardson notched in a fourth place finish with a time of 57.28.

Taylor Stepanski automatically qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships when she took first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.62. Stepanski also set a new fieldhouse record. DeAnna Stickler-Gatson and Brittany Johnson posted fourth and fifth place finishes in the race and both provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships. Stickler-Gatson finished with a time of 2:13.01, followed by Johnson at 2:13.08.

In the men's 3,000 meter run, Eddie Komph posted a third place win and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships with a time of 8:22.52. Tom Goforth also provisionally qualified as well and finished fifth, posting a time of 8:23.58.

The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Kimberly Balls, Ola Hendler, DeAnna Stickler-Gatson and Ce'Aira Richardson took second and provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships with a time of 3:50.48.

In the men's 4x400, Blake Oakes, Shawn Stewart, James Cousins and Andrew Mudd posted a third place finish, recording a time of 3:20.38.

Emerald Joiner provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships for the third time this season in the women's weight throw, posting a final distance of 16.63 meters. Joiner also posted a fourth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.26 meters.

Robert Tarpley took first place for the Cardinals in the men's long jump and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships, recording a distance of 7.35 meters. The leap marked a new school record. Robert Atwater finished in third place with a final distance of 6.86 meters.

Atwater finished first in the high jump and provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships, recording a distance of 2.03 meters.

Tarpley provisionally qualified in the triple jump as well and took third place with a distance of 14.31 meters.

The Cardinals hosts Northwood in a dual meet next Friday, February 5th, in the last home match of the season. Events begin at 5:00 pm.
