BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball student-athlete C.J. Turnage was selected as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week after leading the Cardinals to a pair of victories in their annual trip to the Upper Peninsula.
Turnage averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in wins over Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech over the weekend. He had 21 points and five boards, going 8-of-11 from the floor in Thursday's 83-79 win over the Wildcats before adding 12 points and eight rebounds in Saturday's 68-62 decision over the Huskies.
Saginaw Valley remains alone atop the overall GLIAC standings with a 10-2 league record to go along with its 14-4 overall mark. The Cards host Grand Valley State University Thursday at 8:00 p.m. before traveling to face Ferris State University Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off. The Lakers (8-4) are two games behind SVSU while the Bulldogs (9-3) sit one game behind SVSU in the league standings.
