BAY CITY, Mich. - SVSU women's basketball junior guard Katelyn Carriere has been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week after leading the team in a pair of victories over the weekend.
Carriere went for a career-high 32 points at Findlay on Thursday night, adding a season-high nine rebounds in the 89-83 overtime win, adding four assists as well. She followed that performance up with a 17-point effort in the team's 80-62 win at Wayne State on Saturday. She added five assists and three boards in that victory. Carriere hit on 11-of-18 tries from beyond the arc and struck for a career-high six triples in the game at Findlay. On the week, Carriere averaged 24.5 points, six boards and 4.5 assists per contest.
Katelyn is now second on the team with an 11.7 points-per-game scoring average and is third in rebounding, grabbing 4.5 per contest. She leads Saginaw Valley with 3.2 assists per game as well.
The Lady Cardinals are now 9-4 overall and 6-2 in GLIAC play, having won five straight games. They will host the Lake Superior State University Lakers on Thursday (Jan. 14) in another GLIAC tilt, set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at SVSU's O'Neill Arena.
