BAY CITY - SVSU men's soccer senior student-athlete Tyler Channell notched his second hat trick in three days Tuesday, as he was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the third straight time to open the 2015 season after his first-career hat trick on the field Sunday. 

Channell scored three goals and four assists for 10 points while leading the team to a weekend sweep over Malone and Walsh. He had a pair of assists Friday in a 4-0 blanking of the Pioneers before notching his first-career hat trick and adding two more helpers in a 9-1 victory over Walsh on Sunday. Channell leads the country with nine assists, is second in the GLIAC with five goals to teammate Jordan Kalk (7) and leads the league with 19 points.

Channell also leads all of NCAA Division II in assists-per-game with 1.50 and is fourth with 19 total points so far in 2015. He has already surpassed his point total of 18 he had last year and matched the 19 points he had when he was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year in the 2013 season.
