UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball program has officially announced the signing of Rashaan Pope as a member of the 2016-17 recruiting class.

Pope, a 6'4" shooting guard from Ypsilanti who preps at Romulus High School, brings to the program a great deal of versatility and a unique skill set that will add to the Cardinal attack. He serves as the captain of his varsity team and earned the Inside Prep MVP award in the 2014-15 season for the Eagles. 

"Rashaan has a great skill set and a top-tier level of athleticism," stated SVSU Head Coach Randy Baruth. "He has great length and is a multi-skilled player. He has the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter and is extremely effective in attacking the rim and finishing." 

The Cardinals are in the midst of their 2015-16 season after posting the best finish since they transitioned to the NCAA Division II level in the 2014-15 season. SVSU was the preseason pick by the GLIAC head coaches to win the league's North Division.
