UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Meemic Insurance has partnered with SVSU Athletics to sponsor its academic initiatives for the 2015-16 academic year. This includes everything from recognizing student-athlete academic success at SVSU's games to helping host student-athletes celebrate commencement ceremonies.
Already this year Meemic has sponsored the GPA recognition event at SVSU's football game against Ohio Dominican University on November 7 and a staff appreciation luncheon held November 3 and attended by over 50 staff members.
SVSU Athletics also works to recognize student-athletes who excel in the classroom. Meemic will be sponsoring the Athletics Academic Awards Banquet, which recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a GPA of 3.4 or above and is held annually in February.
Due to Meemic's sponsorship, SVSU is more capable of providing study environments, on and off campus, for students who need additional help and to create study plans specific to individual students which will assist them with time management skills. SVSU Athletics also provides other life skills programming, such as career planning through interviews and dining etiquette workshops.
