UNIVERSITY CENTER - The men's and women's track & field teams will kick off the new season this Friday, December 4th, at the SVSU Holiday Classic. The competing teams include: Northwood University, Lake Superior State University, Alma College, Cleary University, Siena Heights University, Central Michigan University, Wayne State University, and Oakland University. The competition begins at 2:30 pm.

At last year's meet both the men's and women's team made several first place finishes. Anna Fochesato finished in 1st place in the Triple Jump, leaping to a distance of 11.01 meters.  Fochesato also finsihed with a tie for first in the High Jump, clearing the bar at a height of 1.73 meters. Domonique Smith and Kimberly Balls took first and second in the 60 Meter Dash Finals. Tierra Williams had a runner-up showing in the 60 Meter Hurdles Finals, crossing the line with a time of 9.05.

For the men, Devin Hartnagle earned first in the Weight Throw, recording a distance of 16.73 meters. Robert Tarpley took first in the Long Jump for SVSU, leaping to a distance of 6.89 meters. In the 60 Meter Dash Travon Phillips claimed first place with a time of 7.02 and Malik Washington finishing just a fraction of a second behind in 2nd place. D'Omar Boyden finished in 1st place in the 60 Meter Hurdles, posting a time of 8.37 in the finals.
