Location: Greater Midland Tennis Center - Midland, Mich.
MIDLAND - Participating in the 2015 GLIAC Women's Tennis Tournament as the #7 seed, the SVSU women's tennis team was matched up against the #2 seeded Northwood University Timberwolves.
The Cardinals were able to take one out of three doubles matches against the T-Wolves and lost the other two narrowly to enter singles play trailing 2-1. Northwood then continued on and claimed wins at #2 singles, #3 singles and #5 singles to close out for the 5-1 win.
Doubles
- Abigail Shonk and Shea Donahue got the only SVSU victory in doubles, claiming an 8-5 win over Northwood's third doubles duo.
- Erin Doud and Ana Pico dropped a close 8-5 contest in the #1 doubles position, as did Izabella Ismailova and Danielle Slonac in the #2 doubles spot.
Singles
- Pico dropped a 6-2, 6-4 match in the #2 singles slot.
- Donahue lost 6-0, 6-2 at #3 singles.
- Shonk lost in the #5 singles hole with scores of 6-1, 6-1.
Up Next for SVSU...
The Cardinals take on Hillsdale College Saturday (Oct. 24) in a 3:45 p.m. matchup at the Tennis Center. The Chargers dropped a 5-0 decision to Wayne State in Friday's Quarterfinals round. Hillsdale posted a 6-3 win over SVSU on Sunday, October 11th earlier this season at the SVSU Tennis Complex.
