SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team will get its season started on Friday (9/5) when it travels to participate in the Seaside Invitational, hosted by Point Loma University in San Diego.

The Cardinals will open play at noon on Friday against Cal State Dominguez Hills and will square-off against Fresno Pacific at 8:30 pm.  On Saturday, SVSU will play at noon again against Azusa Pacific and finish play at 4:15 pm against tournament host Point Loma.  All times listed are Eastern Standard for SVSU's matches.

The early non-conference tournament will get SV ready for its strong conference schedule, which begins September 12-13 when it opens Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play against Ferris State and Grand Valley State, which are both perennial powers in the league.

SVSU is coming off a 17-13 record in 2013 that saw the Cards qualify for the GLIAC Tournament, bowing out in the quarterfinals.
