The SVSU men's soccer team hosts a pair of GLIAC opponents at Braddock Field in the final two home games of the regular season this weekend. On Friday (10/24), the Cardinals match-up against the University of Findlay at 2:00 pm and on Sunday (10/26), Tiffin University comes in for a 12:00 pm game on Senior Day.
Last weekend, SVSU went 1-1 on the road in two GLIAC games. The Cardinals suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Lake Erie on Friday (10/17) by a final score of 2-0. The team bounced back on Sunday (10/19) by defeating the Ohio Dominican Panthers for the second time this season, 4-1. Sophomore Jordan Kalk scored two goals on Sunday, pushing his season total to five goals on the year.
The Oilers come into the contest Friday afternoon with a 4-10-0 overall record and a 3-8-0 mark in the GLIAC. Findlay defeated Malone last Sunday (10/19) by a final score of 5-0 and suffered an overtime defeat to Walsh on Friday (10/17), 2-1. Saginaw Valley defeated Findlay on September 28th 1-0 in the teams previous meeting this season.
The Dragons carry a 10-2-1 overall record and 9-2-0 GLIAC record into this weekends action. Tiffin has won three straight games, which they have outscored opponents 14-0 in those contests. Saginaw Valley and Tiffin are tied atop the GLIAC standings with three games remaining on the schedule for each team. The Cardinals defeated the Dragons 3-2 in double overtime on September 26th earlier this season.
