UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – In conjunction with the Dec. 7th home basketball contests against Tiffin University, the SVSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) continued its annual fundraising efforts to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation by participating in the Macy's "Million Reasons to Believe" campaign. This event provided young fans in attendance with the opportunity to sit beside and interact with Cardinal student-athletes while writing a letter to Santa.
Following the collection of the letters that had each been placed in a stamped envelope addressed to the North Pole (of course), they were brought to a special letterbox at a local Macy's. As part of its "Million Reasons to Believe" campaign, Macy's will donate $1 for each letter to Santa that is received up to $1,000,000.
"We wanted to provide young fans in attendance with something that was not only fun to do, but also allowed us as student-athletes to easily engage in the activity with them. It is exciting and worthwhile to be able to sponsor an activity like this that can benefit both our local youth and the Make-A-Wish Foundation" said Evee Sampson, SAAC President.
Since 2003, NCAA Division II student-athletes, coaches, administrators, parents, fans, friends and communities across the country have worked hard to make a difference in the lives of Make-A-Wish families through their fundraising efforts. Since inception, NCAA Division II has raised more than $2.4 million in support of the Make-A-Wish mission. All are working toward the same cause – to grant the most heartfelt wish of every eligible child in the United States.
