UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University Head Baseball Coach Walt Head has announced the addition of five student-athletes who signed-up to play ball at SVSU during the early signing period.
"We were able to sign some great baseball student-athletes who will fit well with what our program needs are and what I expect out of my players on an all-around level, athletically and academically," said Walt Head, who will be entering his 32nd season at the helm for the Cardinals in the spring. "In this group, I see tremendous ability and the potential to help out our program immediately upon their introduction to the program."
The five student-athletes will join the SVSU baseball program for the 2014-15 academic year and competition in the spring of 2015. The 2014 Cardinals begin play February 28th, as they travel to compete at their annual spring trip in Clearwater, Fla.

Nicholas Hazergian - LHP/1B/OF - (Plymouth Twp., Mich./Canton HS) is currently prepping at Canton High School in Plymouth Township, Mich. under Head Coach Mark Bloomshield. He has garnered All-Region honors and was twice named all-district, all-conference and All-Area First Team by the Plymouth Observer and Eccentric Newspaper. Nicholas was named the Team MVP his sophomore campaign and earned all-academic honors twice.

Jacob Hendricks - RHP - (Ypsilanti, Mich./Milan HS) is currently a senior at Milan High School. Hendricks has lettered all three years for the baseball team. He has been named a scholar-athlete and has been part of the honor roll four years.

Ben London - RHP/INF - (Franklin, Mich./Birmingham Groves HS) is currently in his senior year at Birmingham Groves High School. London, who will be a three-year varsity player, was named his team's MVP in his junior campaign. He is a current team captain and will be attending SVSU with a Dean's Scholarship.

Austin Plasterer - 2B - (Fort Wayne, Ind./Jackson CC) is currently in his sophomore season at Jackson Community College. He prepped at Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was named First Team All-Conference, All-Area, All-State and was an Indiana North-South All Star.

Kyle Randick - 1B/3B/OF - (Flushing, Mich./Flushing HS) is in his senior year at Flushing High School in Flushing, Mich. Randick is a fourth-year varsity player and has been named all-district, all-conference, all-region, all-state and was named the Team MVP.
