UNIVERSITY CENTER, MI – Saginaw Valley State University Women's Basketball Head Coach, Jamie Pewinski, announced Wednesday that she has signed Jessica Alexander (Granger, IN / Penn HS) to a National Letter of Intent.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Jess join our Cardinal family. She is a proven winner and will add a different dimension to our team next season. One of the things we like most about Jess is her ability to play multiple positions. She's a versatile guard that can defend, handle the basketball, shoot and get to the basket, but she is extremely unselfish and thinks about the team first. She comes to us from a very successful high school program and is very coachable."

Daughter of Chuck and Shelli Alexander, Jessica comes to SVSU with a stellar high school & travel resume'. While at Penn High School, Alexander has earned four varsity letters, three conference, three sectional and two regional championships. In 2011, Penn finished the season #2 in Indiana Class 4A girls basketball.
Alexander has also garnered a number of individual awards. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Amanda Haliday Award (Sportsmanship) at Penn. She's also been mentioned as a top prospect by Scouting Indiana Girls and Midwest Girls Basketball Report. Jessica has been a member of the MBA Select AAU program for four years.
In the classroom, Alexander has been recognized for her honor roll GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society. She is currently undecided on a future field of study at SVSU.
Alexander should prove to be a huge addition to the 2014-2015 SVSU Women's Basketball roster. The program will lose two seniors, Kayla Womack and Kristen Greene to graduation. This year's Cardinals are next in action on November 27th, as they host Marygrove College for a 7:00pm tip-off.
