UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Former Detroit Martin Luther King High School standout Briana Graham has decided to return home and play for the Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball program, head coach Jamie Pewinski announced Friday (May 17)
Graham played last season at Division I, Iona College and will have three years of eligibility for the Cardinals, starting this upcoming 2012-13 season.
"I wanted to come home and find a good place where I can be a part of a program where I can do special things," Graham said of her decision to transfer. "I just want to win and I see that the SVSU program is on the rise. Coach Pewinski is turning things around and I want to help her reach new heights."
"Briana brings leadership and playing experience at the Division I level to our current team," Pewinski said of the latest addition to the SVSU program. "Her skill level, work ethic and winning attitude will help her make an immediate impact on our program."
The talented 6'0" post player was a 2011 McDonald's All-American nominee and was ranked 58th nationally at her position by ESPN Hoopgurlz. She was also a part of the Michigan Crossover AAU program in the greater Detroit Area.
Graham is the seventh addition to the 2012 recruiting class for head coach, Jamie Pewinski. She will join Danielle and Katelyn Carriere (London, Ont.), Alex Green (East Lansing, Mich.), Mikayla Silm (St. John's, Mich.), Emily Wendling (Flushing, Mich.) and Paige Wright (Fort Wayne, Ind.).
