BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University catcher Chet LaFave (Charlotte, Mich./Olney Central College) and Lake Erie College pitcher Adam Beach have been chosen as the GLIAC Baseball  "Player of the Week" and  "Pitcher of the Week", respectively.

Chet LaFave helped lead the Cardinals to a sweep of visiting Hillsdale this past weekend.  LaFave went 4-8 (.500) at the plate with three doubles and four runs driven in. His two-RBI double in game 1 on Sunday sealed the victory for the Cardinals. LaFave's three doubles were the Cardinals' only extra base hits of the weekend. He had an on-base percentage of .636 and a slugging percentage of .875 for the week.

Chet is batting .324 on the season with eight runs batted in as SVSU is alone in first place at 4-0 after the opening weekend of conference play.
