UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University athletic department picked up a pair of community engagement awards for its efforts in the 2010-11 season.
The Cardinals earned the NCAA's GLIAC award for the school's GLIAC Pink Wave Event, in which the school invited breast cancer survirors to campus to honor them for their accomplishments. Fifty-eight survivors participated in the event and were honored at halftime of a men's basketball game and a banquet following.
