FINDLAY, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State
University volleyball team notched a 3-1 Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory at the
University of Findlay on Saturday (9/25). The win moves the
Cardinals to 6-4 overall on the season and 4-2 in GLIAC play while
the Oilers fall to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in league play.
The Cardinals jumped out front with a 25-19 victory in the
opening set. Findlay came back with a closely-contested 26-24
win in the second frame. SVSU would close-out the match with
victories of 25-21 and 25-20 in sets three and four,
respectively.
Junior Annie Buxton
(Aurora, Ont./Aurora SS) had a huge performance, recording
match-highs in kills (23) and digs (17) while earning Chili's
"Player of the Match" honors. Sophomore Katie
Maciejewski (Laingsburg, Mich.) had another solid match,
posting 10 kills while hitting .368 and adding nine digs.
Juniors Becky Schroeder
(Owosso, Mich.) and Katie
Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS) each had eight kills,
with Schroeder adding four kills. Sophomore Sam Breault (Bad
Axe, Mich.) had 43 assists on the afternoon.
The Cardinals are back in action tomorrow, as they take-on
Hillsdale College in a 2:00 pm match-up.
