GROSSE ILE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State
University golf team currently sits in fifth place after the first
round of play at the 2010 GLIAC Men's Golf Championships, held at
the par-71 Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club. The Cardinals
shot a 300 (+16) and are seven strokes back of tournament leader
Grand Valley State (+9).
Sophomore Dan Warner
(Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill HS) sits atop the leaderboard, tied
with Ashland's Jay Overy after shooting an even-par 71.
Senior Nate
Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) is tied for 15th place after
carding a first-round 75 (+4). Fellow senior Mike Horn
(Clarkston, Mich.) and junior Troy
Quenneville (Tecumseh, Ont.) are in 25th after shooting rounds
of 77 (+6) for the first 18 holes.
Second round play was suspended due to darkness and will resume
Monday morning (10/4) at 9:00 am, with final round action following
at 10:30 am.
