FINDLAY, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State
University women's basketball team dropped a 66-57 decision at the
University of Findlay on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 30). The
loss puts the Lady Cardinals at 4-15 overall on the season with a
2-12 record in the GLIAC. The Oilers improve to 15-4 overall
and 10-4 in the conference, and stand alone atop the GLIAC South
Division standings.
The Cardinals entered the locker room with a two point advantage
as freshman Aysha
Boston (Detroit, Mich. / Renaissance HS) hit a three pointer to
give them the lead, 31-29. Junior Kelley Wesp
(Cincinnati, Ohio / Glen Este HS) led Saginaw Valley with seven
points in the first half while Boston had six.
Findlay would regain the lead within three minutes of action and
maintain it throughout the remainder of the game.
Freshman Grace
Herzog (Flint, Mich. / Powers Catholic HS) led the Cardinals in
scoring with 14 points and in rebounds with 13. Wesp ended
the afternoon with 13 points and two assists.
The loss drops Saginaw Valley down to 4-15 overall on the season
and 2-12 in the GLIAC while Findlay moves to 15-4 overall on the
season, 10-4 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will return to
action Thursday (Feb. 4) when they host Wayne State. Tip-off
is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
