UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – In a game that
seemed uneven from the start, the Saginaw Valley State
women's basketball team lost a rough match to the visiting
Northwood Timberwolves today (Jan. 17), 75-47.
In the first half, the Cardinals went into the locker room after
scoring only 15 points on six-for-28 shooting, while the
Timberwolves scored 39 on 13-of-30 shooting from the floor.
In the second half, the Cardinals' freshman guard Marah Kyle
(Bluffton, Ind.) dropped in 10 of SVSU's 32 points. Freshman
guard Tasha Balls (Bridgeport, Mich.) sank eight points. Kyle led
SVSU with 13 points on the afternoon.
The loss drops the Cardinals' record to 2-13 overall and 1-9
in the GLIAC, while Northwood improves to 12-3 overall, and 7-3 in
the GLIAC. SVSU will begin a three-game road trip on Jan. 22 when
they travel to Houghton, Mich. to take on Michigan Tech in GLIAC
action.
