Volleyball drops match to Ferris State

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – After coming off a tough loss to Grand Valley State University on Friday, the SVSU women's volleyball team looked for redemption against GLIAC foe Ferris State University on Saturday (Sept. 27).

In a match that went five games, the Cardinals couldn't pull out a victory in Cardinal Gym, losing to the Bulldogs 25-17, 21-25, 25-16, 22-25, 15-10. The Cardinals' losing streak is now at two games, as they prepare to do battle with Wayne State University at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 in Detroit to begin a four-match road trip before entering the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge in Indianapolis, Ind. on Oct 17-18. The Cardinals' next home match is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 24 against Michigan Tech.

Saginaw Valley was led by senior Sarah Redoute (Clinton Twp., Mich. / L'Anse Creuse HS) who had 10 kills, followed by juniors Allison Schlinkert (Marysville, Mich. / Marysville HS) and Jaclyn Carnago (St. Clair, Mich. / St. Clair HS) who notched nine kills a piece. Guiding the Cards on offense, junior setter Kait Harris (Essexville, Mich. / Garber HS) hit 44 percent, had 40 assists and six kills on the night.

The Cardinals' record falls to 12-3 overall, and 4-2 in the GLIAC.
