FINDLAY, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State
women's basketball team's winless streak stands at
three games as the Cardinals opened the Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletics Conference play with a lost today (Dec. 4) to the Findlay
Oilers, 77-61.
SVSU was led by freshman guard Marah Kyle (Bluffton, Ind.) who
scored 13 points and had five assists on the evening. Senior point
guard Tricia Everett (Saginaw, Mich.) had a double-double on the
night by knocking down 12 points, and grabbing 11 rebounds for the
Cardinals.
During the first half, the Cardinals shot 44 percent from the
field on 12-of-27 shooting, and took a one point lead into
halftime. But, the Cardinals would not maintain the momentum
against the Oilers as the the second half Findlay put up 43 points
on the Cardinals.
The loss drops Saginaw Valley State's record to 1-4 on the
season and 0-1 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will return to action
Sunday (Dec. 7) when they face Hillsdale College at the James E.
O'Neill, Jr. Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
