QUINCY, Ill. - The Saginaw Valley State
University women's basketball team has broken into the win
column after beating Western Missouri today (Nov. 16) 70-55 in the
Quincy/Subway Tip Off Tournament on the campus of Quincy
University.
In the win, sophomore guard Kelley Wesp (Cincinnati, Ohio) and
junior forward Kelsey Mausolf (Port Hope, Mich.) each scored 16
points to lead the Cardinals on offense, while senior point guard
Tricia Everett (Saginaw, Mich.) scored a dozen points, pulled down
seven rebounds and dished five assists. Mausolf grabbed a team-high
eight boards on the night and Wesp contributed four steals.
Freshman guard Marah Kyle (Bluffton, Ind.) scored eight points in
the victory.
The Cardinal defense kept Western Missouri to 29 percent shooting
on the afternoon.
SVSU returns to the floor at 1 p.m. Nov. 22 (Saturday) in their
2008 home debut against University of California - Pennsylvania.
